Description

Kenya Thunguri AA Single Origin Filter.

Thunguri Factory receives cherry from 1,000+ producers who farm on the land surrounding the factory in Kirinyaga County; the area boasts rich, fertile red-clay soil. Thunguri Factory is managed by Kibirigwi Farmers’ Cooperative Society.

Located in Kenya’s coffee heartland, competition is fierce. Thunguri’s strategy is to focus on quality and representing the region’s top farmers.

Each farmer delivers cherry to the factory, where it is sorted and processed. Cherries received at the station are pulped the same day as harvesting, then fermented in mucilage for 16-18 hours before washing, floating, skin drying then drying on raised beds for 9 – 14 days.

Kenyan AA lots are always the most expensive of any harvest. Referring to the larger bean screen sizes (17-18.5) we’ve found them to be the most consistent in terms of roasting, and best performing in the cup throughout the season.
